A selection of short animations from some of our speakers past, present, future….and others inbetween. Films being added by the day, but take a bit of time out to sit in our biggest stage and watch some beautiful work amongst the Motion North Community.
Two Black Boys by One 6th
Based on the poem by Dean Atta and narrated by Jordan Stephens, Two Black Boys in Paradise is a short stop-motion film exploring the intimate and emotional world of Edan (19) and Dula (18), two young Black men navigating the nuances of love and identity. The film takes viewers on a poetic journey that echoes the emotional highs and lows of coming into oneself and out to the world. Here, paradise is not just a place, but a state of being—fragile and threatened by internalised fear, shame, and societal expectations.
The Ballad of Pale Blue Dot by Duncan Rudd
Starting at the atomic scale, we discover how earth was formed, its mis-spent youth, its adventures in parenting and its feelings towards us.
Broomsticks on Broadway by Gordon Howie
Fellinda Cauldron is inspired by the moon to make a magical dancing potion - can she over come her doubts and complete her bubbling brew? Broomsticks on Broadway celebrates the joyful aspects of the creative process; paying homage to MGM musicals and old Hollywood glamour with a spooky twist.
Larval by Alice Bloomfield
Living a lonely life of isolation, a girl dreams of luxury and beauty. She fantasises about possessing the looks of her celebrity idol and and winning the heart of her unrequited love, an oblivious worker at her local takeaway. In a surreal, dreamlike turn of events, featuring a moth-like spirit, she discovers that perhaps she should have been more careful what she wished for .

In Pursuit of Magic by Art&Graft
In Pursuit of Magic is for anybody responding to the creative call — whatever that call is, whatever obstacles may stand in the way. Art&Graft's most ambitious studio film to date is a four minute long, self-funded passion project that is our collective response to the creative calling we all hear.
